Providing routing and elevation profiles for the roads, paths and tracks that probably existed in the Jura Mountains at the end of the 19th Century.
A mapping by the date a feature was first mapped is available together with the more detailed JuraMap.
Largely based on the SCASB that is available at Framagit under the AGPL-v3 licence, the JuraMap routing app and its accompaying OpenRouteService are described in an implementation note that is introduced in a Jura Mountains blog item.
Simple approach
Routes
- Click on the map to start and end a route. The route can be extended using additional clicks. The map will zoom and move to centre on the route. A point on a route can be removed by double clicking on the point. Points can be moved to a new position.
- Use the sidebar button to zoom on and move to the centre of a route.
Elevation profile
- Use the sidebar button to show or hide the elevation profile for a route.
Advanced
Layers
- The sidebar button allows different layers to be selected.
Route
- The sidebar button displays the coordinates of a route. Click to remove the route.
Settings
- The sidebar button allows the type of elevation profile to be selected. Currently only hiking is provided for, and details for a particular profile are not displayed.
Itinerary
- The sidebar button displays the itinerary for a route.
Other
- Buttons are provided for centering and zooming on a route () and for mapping a user's location ().
About
Routing
- Routing uses a self-hosted OpenRouteService. A Version 2 API is used, as described in a Jura Mountains mapping blog post.
Acknowledgement
- JuraMap relies heavily on OpenStreetMap contributions and technologies.
